NSCA Reveals New Board of Directors

The National Systems Contractors Association has named Michael Hester president as president who vows to ‘raise the industry up’ during tenure.

After his election as president of National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) board of directors in March during the Business Leadership Conference, Michael Hester of Beacon Communications said he relished the opportunity to “raise the industry up” along with his fellow board members.

He now has that chance as his tenure began this week, along with the rest of the 2014-2015 board. Hester replaces Ingolf de Jong as president, who will continue to serve on the NSCA executive committee after serving as president since 2012.

“I’m passionate about our industry, and the goals we have for NSCA: to improve and grow integration businesses,” Hester said in the official announcement of the new board this week. “Through NSCA, we have the opportunity to raise the level of the industry. I’m very excited to recognize the suppliers and companies that have been a big part of our industry for years. We’re ready to work with them and prepare together for our new customers, who will be very sophisticated and very smart.”

Over the next year, Hester will help NSCA focus on key areas of industry change and ensuring that NSCA is the resource for systems integrators.

“We’re thrilled to have Michael Hester become the president of the NSCA Board of Directors,” says Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “His in-depth industry knowledge, as well as his experiences in leading Beacon Communications through several changes and periods of growth, will serve NSCA and represent the needs of the industry well.”

Ray Bailey, president of Lone Star Communications, replaces Kelly McCarthy of Genesis Integration as the board’s vice president, although McCarthy will remain on as director of the organization. Josh Shanahan, president of Sport View Technologies, will assume the combined role of NSCA secretary/treasurer.

Michael Boettcher, CEO of Advanced AV; Anne Sellers, managing principal of Sensory Technologies; and Paul Thomas, president of Northland Controls are joining the board as new members, replacing Paul Cronin of Atrion, Catherine Shanahan of Shanahan Sound and Ron Pusey of Communication Specialists.

Hester talked about his new leadership role during NSCA’s Business & Leadership Conference 2014:
