Sonitrol Secures John Deere Dealership, Named Integrated Installation of the Year Runner-Up

Sonitrol of Evansville was able to secure the building with impact-activated audio on a Sonitrol iBase panel, and a camera system from 3xlogic.

Hutson Inc. is a John Deere dealership with 13 locations. At the Paducah, Ky., location, Hutson decision-makers wanted to protect their building inside and out, during business hours and after hours.

With a lot over 88,000 square feet and a building with over 14,000 square feet, there was a large area to protect.

Based just over the border in Indiana, Sonitrol of Evansville was able to design a system with outdoor protection; burglar and intrusion alarm system; and a verified CCTV solution that would work by arming from one keypad and arming three combined systems — earning runner-up honors as Integration Installation of the Year (small to midsize company).

Sonitrol of Evansville was able to secure the building with impact-activated audio on a Sonitrol iBase panel, and a camera system from 3xlogic.

The outside was secured by additional cameras from 3xlogic and also a Videofied panel with outdoor motion viewers.

“Being a Sonitrol franchise, Sonitrol of Evansville embraces the verified alarm solutions,” says Sonitrol of Evansville Operations Manager Chris Dingman. “Whether it be the impact-activated audio verification, video-verified motion viewers from Videofied, or Sonavision verified video, Sonitrol of Evansville believes in the PPVAR’s priority response initiative.”

The integration onsite consisted of connecting the arming input to the Sonitrol panel. When the customer arms their system at the keypad, it arms the outdoor Videofied system, and since the 3xlogic appliance is connected to the Sonip monitoring platform with no wired connection between the two devices, Dingman explains, it allows the central station to receive video alarms and a live view of the cameras when the operator receives a traditional door alarm or an audio activation.

“A true audio and video verified system,” he says. “The three systems come into the Sonitrol of Evansville central station Sonip monitoring platform as one customer by arming one keypad.”

Covering a large outdoor area can be especially challenging from a security standpoint. Hutson brass understands that some customers want to be able to walk the lot and view the tractors after hours without being approached by a salesperson, but they needed to ensure that those assets would be protected.

With the verified video protection operators can see if the equipment is being moved when it should not be. The system is also app capable. With the Sonitrol app the system can be armed remotely, the cameras can be viewed, and users can be added from any smartphone or tablet.

This can be very useful when the operator calls the responsible party on an alarm, they can check the activity and cameras to verify the alarm, or if it is an authorized user at the location, according to Dingman.

With nine current locations secured by Sonitrol of Evansville, and the end user looking to add others, Hutson has been very satisfied with the integrated installation applications.

Dingman says Sonitrol of Evansville is looking at improving the system by deploying thermal cameras and video analytics to replace older yard cord technology.

“I was told that we, Hutson, are not in the business of securing our facilities. I believe our owner’s words were, ‘Find someone that can guard our facilities as if they owned them.’ I know we have found our security provider in Sonitrol,” says Hutson Safety and Compliance Manager Jim Gilliam.
