CARMEL, Ind. -- Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies announces its Schlage wireless panel interface module (PIM) now integrates to Mercury Security access control panels via the RS-485 serial communication standard, eliminating the need for wireless gateway modules.
By leveraging RSI protocol, a single Mercury Security access control panel can manage up to 64 Schlage wireless devices and is not limited to a specific number of PIMs, according to the company. These include the new modular designed AD-Series, which lets users change credential technologies or networking capabilities without removing the lock from the door. The solution is also backwards compatible with the WA-Series network locks, exit trims and portable readers.
“By eliminating the requirement of installing a wireless gateway between the access control panel and the PIM, we are reducing the cost per door of wireless access control solutions to all of our partners who install Mercury Security and Schlage wireless access control systems,” says Frank Gasztony, CEO and CTO of Mercury Security.
Customers with existing Mercury Security access control panel installations can obtain this additional value with Schlage wireless devices by simply upgrading the panel’s firmware, Gasztony says.
