IRVINE, Calif. -- Access control solutions provider HID Global has included key additions to its product portfolio to expand the company's presence in the North American radio frequency identification (RFID) market.
In its July report titled, "RFID Forecasts, Players & Opportunities 2011-2012," research firm IDTechEx says that 43 percent of the 2.31 billion RFID tags shipped during 2010 will be sold and used in North America. The firm expects the value of the entire RFID market to reach $5.63 billion during 2010, up from $5.03 billion in 2009. This includes tags, readers and software/services for RFID cards, labels, fobs and all other form factors.
Thus, HID Global's RFID product portfolio includes solutions featuring a broadband self-resonance frequency (SRF) from 860 to 960MHz that specifically supports North American frequency requirements.
Additionally, the company has appointed David Chose to establish and manage a sales organization while expanding distribution and integrator channels focused specifically on the United States and Canada. Chose has more than 10 years of sales, business development and system implementation experience in the RFID industry at companies including Omron, CCL Label and Texas Instruments.
"HID Global's industry and logistics business is an RFID leader throughout Europe, and now we are extending our business to the North American market for RFID tags that support asset tracking, process automation, medical processes, waste management and identification of returnable transport items, laundry, livestock and pets," says Marie-Francoise Glotz, vice president, Industry and Logistics, HID Global. "With our recent portfolio additions and David's appointment as North American sales manager, we are well positioned to execute on significant growth initiatives in this large and growing region."
