ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — i-Evo, a biometric reader provider, is now incorporating multispectral imaging sensors by Lumidigm to produce a line of indoor/outdoor fingerprint readers.

"Biometrics has been proven time and time again to overcome all of the security issues found with card and fob systems," explains Shaun Oakes, managing director, i-Evo. "However, the cost of biometric systems coupled with their reliability issues has, until now, curtailed profits and industry growth. Lumidigm's sensors eradicate these issues and provide us with a quick, simple and cost-effective solution for our integrators to promote to their users."

Lumidigm multispectral fingerprint sensors capture fingerprint data beneath the surface of the skin so that dryness or even damaged or worn fingers create do not hinder reliable reads, according to the company. Using multiple wavelengths of light and advanced polarization techniques, the sensors extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin.
