A look at earnings reports released by major manufacturers:
Brink’s: While 2003 saw a 26-percent decrease in earnings for the Brink’s Co. as a whole, the Brink’s Home Security division celebrated as its profit margin went up 10 percent for the year.
General Electric: General Electric, the parent company of GE Security, says it reached record earnings in 2003 and the division that included electronic security finished 2003 with a 6-percent increase in earnings.
Honeywell: With an eye on growth in 2004 with the expectation of new product introductions in its security division, Honeywell says it earned $1.3 billion in 2003.
Ingersoll-Rand: Led by 13-percent increase in revenue from its security division, Ingersoll-Rand (IR) is reporting a net gain in earnings for its 2003 fourth quarter.
NAPCO: The company signaled a better fiscal outlook for 2004 when it announced an 80-percent increase in second quarter 2004 earnings compared to the same period in 2003.
Tyco: Tyco Int’l Ltd. continued to put its past troubles behind it as it announced earnings of $719 million in the first quarter of 2004 compared with a $566 million quarter in 2003.
