BOCA RATON, Fla. — ADT North America Residential and Small Business has filed lawsuits against three companies that allegedly infringed upon the company's federally registered blue octagon trademark.

The security provider filed lawsuits against Florida-based companies Advanced Design Technologies and IC Realtime, along with Redondo Beach, Calif.-based Moore Protection Home Security. The lawsuits resulted in permanent injunctions against the companies prohibiting them from any further use of ADT's trademark.

ADT alleges that the companies purposely copied the corporation's blue octagon trademark to attract consumers who might think they were dealing with the real ADT.

ADT Vice President and General Counsel David Bleisch states that the company will continue filing more lawsuits against companies that infringe on its intellectual property.

"As the number one security company in America, ADT is committed to vigorously protecting its valuable, federally-registered blue octagon trademark," says Bleisch. "We want consumers to know they are doing business with the authentic ADT and not an imposter."

I can't believe this is happening. Whats to keep other larger companies from patenting all the other shapes and colors. I think all small alarm companies should join together and raise money to fight this. Also if the ESA "Electronic Security Association does not assist us with this we should re think our memberships. Just my opinion!!
