BURLINGTON, Mass. — G4S Monitoring and Data Center Inc. has established a training program geared toward educating the company's video monitoring support and data center (VMSDC) operators about remote guarding.
Developed by G4S' North America Training Institute (NATI), the coursework covers basic duties of private security personnel, security interviewing techniques, techniques of effective patrol, ethics in security and conflict management. The training enables G4S to leverage the concept of technology and manned guarding by taking technically skilled personnel and teaching them manned guarding skill sets, according to the company.
Upon completion of the program, operators will receive G4S remote guarding certification to ensure operators work together with onsite security staff and local authorities. All operators are required to complete the training as part of the G4S continuing education program.
"The training is a significant differentiator for G4S over other companies that offer video monitoring, especially conventional central stations that add some video capability," says Jerry Cordasco, vice president of operations, G4S. "If the industry terminology for what we are doing is 'remote guarding,' what better way to do it than having the VMSDC staff trained to some degree as guards?"
Additonally, the center also maintains CSAA Five Diamond Certification, as well as UL Listing.
