GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — Physical security and life-safety systems provider World Wide Security has acquired its former rival East Meadow, N.Y.-based Rainbow Home Systems Inc. The acquisition is expected to enhance the service offerings to residential and commercial customers through expanded product lines.

"World Wide Security has admired Rainbow's ability to service niche markets on Long Island over the past 30 years," says Ken Mara, president and owner, World Wide Security. "We are thrilled to join forces with Rainbow to create a strong security company with innovative ideas in order to serve the changing needs of consumers in the tri-state area."

Rainbow President Lenny Minervini, a past president of the Long Island Alarm Association, will remain with World Wide and focus on sales and operations. Additionally, four other Rainbow employees will join the World Wide team.

"I look forward to having Lenny's expertise in new construction and customized installations as part of our team," Mara says.

The recent purchase of Rainbow is the fourth acquisition for World Wide Security this year. The Honeywell and First Alert dealer has also purchased Long Island, N.Y.-based security companies Digital Surveillance and Security Inc., True Value Alarms and Alarm Security Inc.
