IRVING, Texas — The Electronic Security Association (ESA) has started two professional groups — Sales and Marketing Professionals (SMP) and Installation and Service Professionals (ISP). Each group helps security professionals hone their skills within the security integration business.
Sales and marketing staff members from security integration companies are encouraged to join SMP. The group will focus on sales and marketing strategies, laws, regulations, sales force, marketing automation and IT tools. ADS Security Regional Manager Gerrit Brusse will serve as chair of SMP. Lisa Matthews, marketing and communications coordinator for Safety Technologies, is the group's vice chair.
Geared toward installers and system designers, ISP will address design and installation techniques, technical standards, training and IT tools for installation and service. ASG Security Vice President of Branch Operations Mark Grossman will lead the group.
The creation of the groups comes a few years after ESA launched the Young Security Professionals (YSP) to address the organization's younger demographic.
"Along the same lines as YSP, we want to provide professionals in these areas with skills to help them do their jobs better," ESA Executive Director Merlin Guilbeau tells SSI. "We all know that proficient professionals help companies increase their bottom line. We already have seminar tracks at the Electronic Security Expo [ESX] for both groups."
Members of either group must be an employee of an ESA member company. In addition to regular integrator members, "appropriate/supplier member company staffs are also welcome," says Guilbeau. "We've had great responses since announcing these programs a week ago. So far, 112 people have registered for SMP, and 78 have signed up for ISP."
Group members will also have access to ESA Webinars, white papers, newsletters, research reports, seminars, workshops and networking events, Guilbeau says. Those who sign up by April 1 will be eligible to receive either a "buy one seminar, get on free" benefit or a 10-percent discount off an ESX Deluxe Pass.
