ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Security Industry Association announced April 21 its CEO and executive director, Richard Chace, submitted his resignation effective immediately.

"The SIA Executive Committee and Mr. Chace mutually agreed that his decision to resign at this time was in the best interests of all parties," said Gordon Hope, chairman of the SIA Board of Directors Executive Committee, in a statement. "We thank Mr. Chace for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors."

Chace served in the post for more than 10 years. He was responsible for the association's industry relations, strategic planning, business development and international business relations.

Chace is credited with negotiating the association's first international agreements between European, Asian and Latin American trade organizations, according to SIA's Web site. The agreements advance the development of international security standards, training programs, market research and mutually beneficial trade policies.

The association has formed a search committee to seek candidates for an executive director to manage SIA moving forward, Hope said in the statement.
