NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Stanley Convergent Security Solutions (CSS) acquired Canada's fourth-largest alarm company in a deal that will add $1.8 million in recurring monthly revenue (RMR) and 79,000 customers, the company announced.
Stanley purchased all operating assets of First National AlarmCap Income Fund, which is based in Edmonton, Alberta. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
AlarmCap maintains branches in Montreal and Quebec and serves a mix of residential and commercial clients. The company also operates under the Microtec Security Systems brand. It sells, installs, monitors and maintains access control, fire, intrusion and video surveillance systems.
AlarmCap will also bring key accounts to the Stanley CSS National Accounts Program, according to the company.
President Tony Byerly likened the deal to Stanley's purchase of HSM in 2007, and says the newly combined entity forms Canada's third largest electronic security provider.
"This is exciting news for us as we transform our Canadian operations," he says. "The acquisition gives us greater reach into the Canadian market. We are also securing two ULC certified monitoring centers in Quebec City and Montreal, which will expand Stanley CSS' bilingual capabilities in Canada. This will help us to expand our services for accounts across North America."
