Don Erickson Named as SIA s New CEO at ISC Solutions Kickoff

NEW YORK — The Security Industry Association (SIA) announced during the kickoff to ISC Solutions on Wednesday here that its government relations director, Don Erickson, has been promoted to CEO. Erickson replaces Richard Chace, who resigned from the position in April.

Erickson joined SIA in February 2006. In his role as director of government relations, he is credited for successfully implementing public policy initiatives created by SIA, such as the GSA Schedule 84 Cooperative Purchasing Program. In January, he aided in getting legislation signed by President Obama that exempts SIA member manufacturers from having to comply with Department of Energy efficiency requirements.

Erickson currently serves as SIA's representative to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Emergency Services Sector Advisory Committee and the TWIC Stakeholder Communications Committee.

"After an extensive evaluation over the past several months, the SIA Board this week unanimously decided to select Don to lead this association," outgoing SIA Chairman of the Board Gordon Hope says. "His dedication, impeccable reputation and track record of success at SIA played a large role in our ultimate decision."

Before joining SIA's government relations director, Erickson served in similar positions for Alcatel and Organization for the Promotion and Advancement of Small Telecommunications Companies. He also spent six years on the senior legislative staff of U.S. Sen. Rod Grams (R-Minn.).

"I am honored to have been selected by the SIA Board of Directors to serve as our association's CEO," Erickson says. "I look forward to working closely with the board and SIA staff to strengthen SIA's value to our membership. I share the board's commitment to working together to help SIA become a greater resource for our members."

Hope's two-year term as chairman of the board concluded this week. He will be replaced by Jay Hauhn, chief technology officer and vice president of industry relations, ADT North America.
