LAS VEGAS —The 44th annual ISC West will convene Wednesday at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. To help attendees plan and manage their schedules, below is a preview of some of the activities on Day 1 of the event.

The State of the Industry panel, titled “Where Are We Headed,” will be held from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. in Casanova Room 502. Security industry professionals from HID Global, IMS Research, Security Executive Council, and the Security Industry Association (SIA) will discuss current and future industry trends during this roundtable event.

ISC West grand opening ceremony will kick off at 9:50 a.m.at the exhibit hall entrance.

Similar to last year’s conference, two education tracks will be available for dealers and installers — Business and Technology. The business courses will focus on sales, marketing and ways to increase revenue.

SSI columnist Ron Davis, managing director for Davis Mergers & Acquisitions Group, will moderate one of the highlighted sessions in the Business track. During the course, “The Anatomy of a Transaction,” hosted from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., attendees will learn the ins and outs of buying or selling a company.

In the Technology track, installing security contractors will review strategies for effectively implementing the industry’s newest technologies. Topics discussed include video quality standards and connecting home security services.

In addition, the Central Station track for monitoring station operators will feature sessions that focus on new legislation, technology, training, fire alarms and more. Hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the “Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP): An Alarms Notification Revolution” session will address challenges faced by alarm monitoring companies for connectivity and creating valid addresses.

Additionally, the Women’s Security Council (WSC) will host its session, “Sell Yourself — But Don’t Sell Yourself Short” 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. in rooms 206 and 207. The panel will focus on networking and career advancement for women in the security industry. Panelists include: Kelly Bonds, who is senior vice president of sales & marketing for Alarm Capital Alliance; ADT Global Accounts Senior Director Renae Leary; and Milestone Systems Head of Corporate Marketing Juliette Gustavsson.

SIA’s New Product Showcase, which aims to honor the most groundbreaking products of the year, will take place at Booth No. 14035 at 3 p.m.

The exhibition hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. And be sure to visit SSI on the show floor at Booth No. 11145!
