ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) has tapped New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor to serve as keynote speaker during its 2012 Government Summit, scheduled for June 19-20 in Washington.
Thor has authored 11 political thrillers, including The Athena Project, The Apostle, The Last Patriot and others. In 2008, Thor shadowed a Black ops team in Afghanistan to research his thriller, The Apostle. He speaks at various events discussing how closely his novels of international intrigue parallel the real threats of terrorism facing the world today.
Additionally, Thor has served as a member of the Department of Homeland Security’s Analytic Red Cell Unit and is a fellow of the Alexandrian Defense Group.
The Government Summit will also feature panel discussions on post 9/11 procurement; public safety from an end-user perspective; the future of access and ID management; securing the smart grid; a briefing on contracting and procurement within the defense and intelligence communities; and connecting with state and local government.
