Protection 1 Purchases Another IT-Centric Company

CHICAGO — As it continues to build an integrated systems division for the IT landscape, Protection 1, has acquired IT-centric systems integrator Suntera Security of Fort Worth, Texas, for an undisclosed amount. The announcement comes a month after P1 acquired its first integrated solutions company, Newark, Del.-based Integration Logistics.

“Our acquisition of Suntera will truly be mutually beneficial,” P1 CEO Tim Whall says. “We’re now able to expand our offerings to existing and future clients that are looking to leverage their IT infrastructure to create additional reliability and cost savings for their security systems.

The deal will allow P1 to provide services to federal and state governments, as Suntera specializes in Department of Defense (DOD)-related security clients and the energy markets. As part of the transaction, Suntera will transfer its General Services Administration (GSA) contract and the Texas Mutual Award Schedule (TXMAS) over to P1.

In addition to adding 15 Suntera employees to its workforce, P1 has also added Suntera’s high profile clients to its roster, including Bell Helicopter, Lockheed, XTO Energy and ExxonMobil.

“We’re excited to begin working with Protection 1’s outstanding leadership and highly technical staff,” says Les Vernon, Suntera’s founder. “This enables us to not only strengthen our focus on custom integration solution designs, but also expand our ability to provide proactive monitoring services knowing the Protection 1 infrastructure is able to support future growth.”
