PALO ALTO, Calif. — Mergers and acquisitions are spurring the pace of the fire alarm equipment market according to a new study by research firm Frost & Sullivan.

The report “North American Fire Alarm Equipment Market” says fire alarm equipment manufacturers are increasing their influence on the industry through consolidations. According to Frost, the fire alarm market generated $768.3 million in revenue in 2004 and is projected to hit $1.1 billion by 2010.

“Companies have dual gains with mergers and acquisitions,” says Frost analyst Girish Kachroo. “While they can gain by expanding their product portfolio and markets, many companies also look at enhancing their distribution channels so that they can increase their end-user segmentation.”
