Safeguard Security Expands Fire Offerings With 2 Acquisitions

Safeguard Security, a full-service security company in the Southwest, has beefed up its fire/life-safety portfolio with the acquisitions of Phoenix-based Protection Systems and Mountain State Fire Sprinkler. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Protection Systems, a provider of fire alarm, fire sprinkler and security services, brings with it more than 2,000 commercial accounts. Together with the purchase of Mountain State Fire Sprinkler, a small family-run operation, Safeguard will now offer fire sprinkler services for the first time in its history.

According to Safeguard CEO John Jennings, the acquisitions solidify the company’s leadership in the Arizona commercial security market.

“Our continued expansion within this market is one of our top priorities for 2010, and this acquisition helps us reach our expansion goals sooner than anticipated,” says Jennings.

Jeremy Berger, co-owner of Protection Systems, is now Safeguard’s vice president of commercial accounts and will continue to expand Safeguard’s footprint in the commercial and industrial fire alarm market.

“Safeguard is an incredible organization and I knew my clients would receive the best service and protection,” says Berger. “The fact that Safeguard is family owned, in business for almost 50 years and operate their own local UL-listed monitoring center were key in our decision to merge with them.”

Safeguard now boasts more than 20,000 clients after successfully completing four other acquisitions in 2009. The company also recently moved to new headquarters in Scottsdale’s Pima Business Center in an effort to position itself for success in the new decade.
