Life-safety systems provider SimplexGrinnell, a Tyco Int'l company, has entered into an agreement under the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) Mentor-Protégé Program with Emergency Planning Management Inc., a certified 8(a) service disabled, veteran-owned general contractor that specializes in fire, life-safety and critical infrastructure protection.

The GSA recently accepted the mentor-protégé agreement for Emergency Planning Management (protégé) and SimplexGrinnell (mentor).

The Mentor-Protégé Program enhances the capability of 8(a) participants to compete successfully for federal government contracts. Mentors provide technical and management assistance, financial assistance, subcontract support, and assistance in performing prime contracts by working with 8(a) firms.

From an overall perspective, the program is designed to:

  • Improve the performance of contracts and subcontracts
  • Facilitate the establishment of long-term business relationships between large prime contractors and small business subcontractors
  • Strengthen subcontracting opportunities and foster complementary capabilities to meet increasing government demands for quality, cost-effective solutions

"In our mentor role, we are committed to helping Emergency Planning Management, a highly skilled general contractor, compete for federal government contracts," says Tom Staves, national business development manager for Government Programs, SimplexGrinnell. "By working together under the auspices of this important GSA program, Emergency Planning Management and SimplexGrinnell can provide best-in-class, turnkey solutions for fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, emergency communications and integrated security."
