Study Shows Almost 42% Growth for Network Video Surveillance

WELLINGBOROUGH, England — A new study from IMS Research has found that the world market for network video surveillance products increased by an impressive 41.9 percent in 2006, and is forecast to continue strong growth for years to come. By 2010, the combined market for network cameras, video servers and network video recorders (NVRs) is forecast to exceed $2.6 billion.

However, even at this growth rate, network cameras will still account for only one-third of the security cameras shipped in 2010.

The study also highlights the growing demand for hybrid analog-digital solutions that can record both analog and network cameras, referred to as hybrid DVRs. These recorders bridge the gap between analog CCTV and network video surveillance, enabling customers to mix and match technologies.
