IP Storage Said to Reduce Surveillance System Costs

IP storage provider Intransa just released its “12 Reasons for External IP Video Storage,” a comprehensive report on the benefits of IP storage for video surveillance systems.

“Storage is often overlooked by security practitioners, consultants, integrators and dealers, yet nowhere is there more opportunity for savings, reducing both operational expense and capital expenditure for video surveillance systems,” says Bud Broomhead, CEO of Intransa.

The report, Broomhead says, can help security professionals understand the benefits of shared, external IP video storage whether for an all-new IP solution or to upgrade one or more DVRs.

The physical security industry is experiencing a technology shift from familiar single vendor, closed analog systems to standards-based, IP digital solutions from multiple vendors, according to the company. As a result, the potential for cost savings, improved video quality and increased retention for video surveillance systems in particular are dramatic with IP storage.

Among many topics covered in the report, the company says deploying shared, external IP storage can reduce the cost of video surveillance for a single DVR, while system benefits continue to increase as more cameras, DVRs and NVRs are added.

The “12 Reasons for External IP Video Storage” report is available for download at www.intransa.com and also from Intransa StorPartner Security Integrators worldwide.
