On-Net Surveillance Systems Inc. (OnSSI) and Milestone Systems have formed an alliance known as an "ingredient OEM" (original engineering manufacturer) agreement to allow Milestone's XProtect IP software platform to act as a recording engine for OnSSI's Ocularis Video Management Platform.
The cooperation of these two companies represents a relationship that will enhance the offerings available to the security industry, according to a joint statement.
"This collaboration reflects OnSSI's and Milestone's commitment to open standards, and the added value that end users can derive from the integration of industry leading applications," says Gadi Piran, OnSSI's president and CTO. "The combination of our technologies is an example of our open-architecture platform and our strategy to enable the delivery of the best available solutions to the market."
Milestone Systems also embraced the pact.
"Milestone is the open platform company within IP video software and OnSSI has perfect synergy with the same non-proprietary approach," says Lars Thinggaard, Milestone's president and chief executive. "Our solutions give partners and customers the widest choice in best-of-breed components, whether it's using exactly the right network cameras or integrating with multiple analytics, retail point-of-sale (POS) [products] or other security systems."
