The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA) has established a fifth working group to focus on developing and promoting cohesive IP solution designs.
The global consortium of physical security providers will use the System Working Group to provide architecture and design leadership to PSIA areas that span multiple working groups and assure interoperability across all technical segments of the industry.
The newly formed assemblage will work closely with PSIA’s four other working groups ? Area Control, IP Video, Recording and Content Management, and Video Analytics ? to develop standards, specifications and supporting materials that work to promote interoperable IP solutions.
“The Systems Working Group is another step toward ensuring IP-based technologies will come together and work seamlessly with other systems such as intrusion, building management, and fire and life safety,” says Roger Richter, chairman of the Systems Working Group and chief engineer/senior architect, video, GE Security. “This group will work to provide architecture, design leadership and assistance that spans across multiple working groups. Our goal is to help create solutions, not just specifications.”
The group is currently developing a common metadata/event model specification to ensure all forms of data are accessible across all IP products. It is also creating DNS-SD/mDNS reference topologies for discovery, and system-wide identity management and systems-based time management definitions.
