Tri-Ed has expanded its footprint in the Northeast with new distribution branch locations in the Washington, D.C., and Long Island, N.Y., areas.

The new Metro-D.C. branch will serve local customers as well as those in surrounding areas of Northern Virginia and Maryland. Bob Farquhar will serve as branch manager, and Tonya Robinson-Hartline as business development manager.

The Plainview, N.Y., branch is set to open in February and will be managed by Stratos Mitsopoulos. The location will serve customers on Long Island and in the metropolitan New York area.

Additionally, Tri-Ed is broadening its IP solution offerings by adding Fremont, Calif.-based LAN Power Systems to its team of vendor partners. LAN Power develops technology for video surveillance over UTP, IP security over UTP and Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems.

“LAN Power is excited to introduce its technology to integrators across the U.S. through Tri-Ed’s distribution channels,” says Tom Kneis, commercial director for LAN Power Systems. “We also look forward to participating in Tri-Ed’s Tech Tour trainings in 2010. It’s a great opportunity to familiarize Tri-Ed customers with our products and technology to help meet their IP system needs.”
