The Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) reports during in the previous six months 80 companies have joined its ranks, raising its total membership to 180. Also, more than 100 ONVIF-conformant products are now available on the market, according to forum organizers.

“ONVIF has made impressive progress,” says IMS Research Senior Research Director Simon Harris. “In less than two years, the organization has attracted companies that account for 72 percent of the global network video surveillance market. Several of these have already released ONVIF-conformant products or software, so it is becoming quite clear that ONVIF will impact the global security industry as a whole.”

The forum said last week it also has expanded its scope to standardize communication between access control devices and ensure interoperability between network video products and access control systems.
