OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada -- IP video solutions provider March Networks, along with a group of leading physical security and telecommunications providers, has formed the Secure City Technology Alliance (SCTA). The alliance will focus on providing governments around the world with interoperable, citywide security solutions that can be rapidly deployed, easily managed and will enable instant coordination for dramatically improved public safety and emergency response.
City, municipal and state governments must equip their emergency teams to prevent, respond to and recover from disasters and threats in an informed and timely manner. As a result, IMS Research and Infonetics Research projects that investment in citywide security solutions is expected to reach $5.7 billion by 2014. Approximately $3.2 billion is estimated to be dedicated to networked video surveillance functions within critical public concerns including utilities, hospitals and all forms of transportation.
In an effort to offer government agencies a flexible platform that will allow them to collaborate more effectively among other government organizations, SCTA aims to work with systems integrators and consultants to deliver end-to-end wireless communications, video surveillance, sensor monitoring, mass notification and telecollaboration capabilities.
