LAS VEGAS — So what is one of the more prominent buzzwords this week at ISC West? It's an acronym, actually: PSIM or physical security information management.

ADT Security Services announced earlier this week it is acquiring Proximex , a PSIM provider. Verint joined the PSIM ranks with its acquisition of Rontal Engineering Applications on Tuesday. And Wednesday, Honeywell let it be known it is implementing Boeing Co.'s PSIM solution to help its Honeywell Integrated Systems [HIS] dealers expand their product and service offerings.

So what's all the fuss about PSIM? Why the mad dash for these and other companies to dive headlong into the integration-enabling software engine?

To answer these questions and more, SSI caught up with Jay Hauhn, chief technology officer and vice president of industry relations, ADT North America. You can listen to his insights here.

Incidentally, Hauhn is one of five industry stalwarts who were inducted into the SSI Hall of Fame during a ceremony held Tuesday at the Venetian. You can learn more about his professional exploits here.
