Surveillance System Shows Customer Wrong Home

ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland, Canada — A resident here, who purchased a home video surveillance system from Vivint earlier this year, has received video clips that show the inside of someone else’s home.

Mayo Vrba’s surveillance system has cameras that activate when movement trips a sensor. A video file is then sent to an account and he can view the content online. In September, he saw images of a man running around in his underwear; two months later, he received images of a woman in her home, CBC News reports.

After receiving the clips, Vrba has expressed that he no longer trusts the security service.

Vivint issued a statement explaining that this is the first time an incident like this has been reported. The company is currently investigating the case.
