Particularly as technologies continue to converge and evolve, the lines become blurred among building systems. Tech Talk Tool Tip
This month I am introducing a new versatile gateway product from BlueBolt (mybluebolt.com). It supports the Panamax “MD” family of direct plug-in devices. Modules such as the MD@-ZZB Smart Plug provide energy monitoring, including individual outlet control, scheduled conservation and surge protection. The system also utilizes ZigBee wireless communications.
Offering a thin profile of 1.5 inches, the MD2-ZB houses two side-mounted outlets and provides status, network and wiring fault indicators, in addition to pushbutton “override” power switches to power outlets on/off instantly from the top of the device. The unit’s Protect-or-Disconnect circuitry completely disconnects AC power to connected equipment in the event of a catastrophic surge. The MD2-ZB’s front cover can be removed and painted to match wall color.
