Albuquerque Casino Plans HD Surveillance System Upgrade

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Albuquerque has selected Surveillance Systems Integration (SSI) to migrate the hotel’s analog security system to IP video.

“This upgrade is based on our desire to integrate what existing assets we already have that can continue to be used,” says Michelle Jojola-Barwick, surveillance director at Hard Rock and Casino Albuquerque. “SSI has been a knowledgeable guide in the upgrade decision-making process, as well as instrumental in the design and project management, exceeding our expectations.”

Established in 2002, the Roseville, Calif.-based SSI offers surveillance integration for casino, commercial and retail markets. Designing and installing comprehensive security solutions for its clients, the firm also provides consultation and advanced project management.

For the Hard Rock project, SSI will install an Avigilon system featuring high definition (HD) cameras, video encoders, network video recorders (NVRs) and multiple workstations. The system will use the Avigilon Control Center featuring network video management software with HD stream management technology to manage the system from workstations and cameras. The NVRs can store up to 30 days of continuous surveillance footage, according to the company.

“The challenges with large-scale installations like the Hard Rock installation include meeting the customer’s specific and unique requirements for hardware and space. This includes the use of its existing assets to save on costs and time,” SSI President Todd Flowers says.

After the upgrade, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Albuquerque anticipates up to 70% reduction in annual power consumed by the system, as well as an increase in security and operations efficiency.

SSI expects to complete the project by the end of 2012.
