Axis, Canon Embark on Major Restructuring of Global Sales and Marketing Units

Axis Communications will assume control of sales and marketing of Canon’s portfolio in North America and EMEA. Canon will maintain control of sales and marketing in Japan.

CHELMSFORD, Mass. – Axis Communications and Canon today announced major changes in how the two companies will operate sales and marketing divisions in major regional markets worldwide.

Axis will immediately undertake responsibility for marketing Canon’s entire portfolio of network video solutions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, and in North America beginning Oct. 1, according to a news release.

In the Japanese market, Canon will continue to sell its network video product portfolio along with becoming an Axis partner to sell its product portfolio. This will be in addition to Axis’ existing partner network. Options for handling Canon’s network video product and solution portfolio in the rest of the Asia-Pacific region is still being explored, according to the release.

“The network video surveillance market continues to show great potential. As a leader in the industry, Axis is in an excellent position to include the sales of Canon network video products to our broad portfolio of products and solutions in EMEA and North America,” says Fredrik Nilsson, vice president, Americas, Axis Communications. “These changes show Canon’s strong commitment to build a long-term presence for Axis on the market.”

Axis became part of the Canon Group in 2015, and both companies have since discussed the various ways of promoting its offering of network video products and solutions.
