Bay Alarm’s Vice President Earns Lifetime Achievement Award
MARINA DEL REY, Calif. — The California Alarm Association (CAA) will crown Bay Alarm’s Dr. Shane Clary with the 2011 George A. Weinstock Award for lifetime achievement and service to the electronic security industry.
The award presentation will take place on Dec. 9 at the 2011 CAA Winter Convention and Tribute Dinner in San Francisco.
Clary, vice president of codes and standards compliance for Bay Alarm, has served in the industry for more than 30 years. He currently chairs the Western Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (WBFAA) Unilateral Apprenticeship and Training Committee (UATC). Formed by the CAA and the California Automatic Fire Alarm Association (CAFAA), the WBFAA UATC operates the largest fire/life-safety training program in the nation.
Clary’s many contributions to create industry codes and standards helped him earn the Weinstock Award recognition, says CAA President John Hopper. “Shane has been a leader in the development of codes and standards that promote public safety and contribute to the overall well-being of our communities. He is a great example of the quality of the volunteers who have contributed to the growth of our industry.”
Additionally, Clary is vice chair of the Electronic Security Association (ESA) Fire Committee. He also serves as a member and past chair of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA). A past president of CAFAA, Clary chairs the NFPA 72 Technical Committee – Fundamentals, and is a member of the NFPA Standards Committee, among his many achievements.
“I am honored to be selected to receive this award,” says Clary. “I appreciate the significance based on a review of the past recipients. George Weinstock set a standard of excellence, and I am humbled to be considered in that company.”
Established in 1999, the George A. Weinstock Award is the highest honor bestowed by CAA.
