Briscoe Protective Systems, NYFAA Donate Toys to Burn Victims

CENTEREACH, N.Y. — Briscoe Protective Systems has donated toys to young burn victims at Stony Brook University Hospital Burn Center as part of the New York Fire Alarm Association’s third annual toy drive.

Spearheaded by NYFAA President Ron Petrarca, who is also director of operations for Electronix Systems, the program collects donations to give to young burn victims at Staten Island Hospital and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. In 2010, Briscoe Protective Systems President Bob Williams recommended Stony Brook University Hospital be added to the association’s list of eligible hospitals.

The efforts led to the hospital receiving its first donation check to purchase a burn garment in 2010. The following year, the Stony Brook University Hospital became participants in the annual toy drive.

The NYFAA, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2014, is comprised of various trade groups within the fire alarm industry who work on expanding its relationship with local authorities who create fire codes, industry education for members. The organization donates proceeds from its annual golf event to burn centers.
