Kwikset, Z-Wave Alliance to Showcase Home Automation Demo at CEDIA Expo
DENVER — Kwikset and the Z-Wave Alliance will present the Z-Wave Himalayan Expedition during CEDIA Expo 2013 at the Colorado Convention Center (Sept. 26-28) to showcasehome automation capabilities.
The live presentation will take at an elevation of 27,000 feet atop Cho Oyu, the sixth-highest mountain in the world, located in the Himalayan range on the Tibet-Nepal border. Using only a smartphone, an amateur mountain climber will give demonstrations of Kwikset SmartCode deadbolt locks with Home Connect technology, among other Z-Wave-enabled devices.
“Any professional at CEDIA involved in the home electronics or security field should see this demonstration,” says Keith Brandon, director of residential access solutions, Kwikset. “While home automation has exploded in popularity over the last few years, dealers, integrators and installers are always looking for new ways to help them sell the benefits to their customers. This demonstration will certainly be a powerful tool in achieving that objective.”
For those unable to attend CEDIA Expo, Kwikset and Z-Wave Alliance will post the video on their Facebook and YouTube accounts. Following the expedition, Z-Wave also intends to make video available for dealers and integrators to post on their Web sites and social media accounts, as well as using it for in-store displays.
“Homeowners who see this amazing display will gain a far greater appreciation for the reliability of home automation and the devices that make up these systems,” says Brandon. “We expect that to have a positive spillover effect for dealers and integrators, as consumers proactively seek out and demand these systems.”
