Local Media Outlet Reports on Cost-Effective Resi Camera Systems

A Wichita, Kan., television stations picks upon trend for affordable video surveillance systems for homes.

WICHITA, Kan. – A local television station here reported on the trend for video surveillance systems becoming more affordable for homeowners.

The trend is allowing more people to keep an eye on their property, reports KWCH-TV.

For Rocky Black, surveillance cameras came at the perfect time. Recently, a man got out of his car, in broad daylight, and grabbed packages off Black’s porch, according to the news report.

“Very bold just to stop walk up to the front porch and grab packages off it,” Black told KWCH. “Luckily, I had a camera system and hopefully someone will recognize this guy.”

Sean Harper of 360 Security Operations told KWCH security camera systems are now more affordable for everyone.

“Just as an example, you can get surveillance cameras from $15 a piece all the way to $20,000 each so it just depends on what you can afford,” he said.

The cost of cameras depends on the quality, but Harper says resident can keep it basic and inexpensive.

“I’d say at the very least you’re going to need surveillance cameras and an alarm system.”

Harper says a full system today typically costs between $1,000-$3,000. He says it’s much cheaper than just 10 years ago.

He also says he’s seen success with the systems. He had one business client who had thousands of dollars in merchandise stolen. Police caught the criminal in a matter of hours.
