ADT Recalls Improperly Wired CO Detectors

BOCA RATON, Fla. — ADT Security Services has recalled carbon monoxide (CO) detectors for failure to signal users when the devices reached their end of useful life.

Between October 2008 and December 2010, ADT installed roughly 20,000 System Sensor CO1224T CO detectors as part of home security systems. However, some of the detectors were not properly wired to the ADT system, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. As a result, the detectors did not sound in the home alarm panel or signal ADT’s alarm monitoring station, indicating the end of useful life.
