Calif. Gov. Brown Appoints Sargent, Westphal to Alarm Company Operator Committee

SACREMENTO — California Gov. Jerry Brown named Jon Sargent and Matthew Westphal to the Alarm Company Operator Disciplinary Review Committee (DRC), part of the Department of Consumer Affairs.

Sargent has served as an industry relations and sales and retention manager for ADT Security Services since 2002. He was a regional retention and corporate projects manager for Security Link from Ameritech from 1995 to 2002 and a customer services manager at National Guardian from 1985 to 1995. He is a member of the California Alarm Association (CAA) and served as its president from 2005 to 2008.

Westphal has been co-president at Bay Alarm since 1993. He has been a board member of the Security Network of America (SNA) since 2001 and the CAA since 2000, where he served as president from 2009 to 2010.

The Alarm Company Operator DRC comprises five members, including three alarm company operators and two members of the public. The committee reviews appeals of fines against alarm company operators or their employees, and denial, revocation, or suspension of licenses, certificates, registrations or permits issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
