Caught on Tape: Oregon Man Confronts Would-Be Prowler on Front Doorstep

The homeowner viewed a suspicious man approach his residence at 3 a.m. on an elaborate video surveillance system.

PORTLAND, Ore. – A Southeast Portland, Ore., man came face-to-face with a would-be prowler at his front door in the middle of the night recently, thanks to an elaborate home video surveillance system.

According to a report on KATU.com, Spicher’s cameras captured a man walking by his house around 3 a.m. Spicher was awake getting ready for a garage sale.

“I noticed some movement on the monitor,” Spicher told KATU-TV. “He starts bee-lining to the door.” Spicher said.

Spicher pulled out his gun to protect himself, then confronted the man near his front door.

“I bum rushed him outside, put the gun in his face, and shooed him off,” Spicher said.

Footage captured from Spicher’s video surveillance system can be viewed in the report.

Spicher’s video surveillance system includes 32 cameras, which he installed. He even got permission from some of his neighbors to install cameras on their homes as part of the video network, according to KATU-TV.
