NJBFAA Will Remain Chapter of NBFAA

HOLMDEL, N.J.—Members of the New Jersey Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NJBFAA) voted to remain a chapter of the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) during a special meeting Aug. 11.

The vote was called to address mounting discontent among the New Jersey chapter’s membership with NBFAA. At issue was a perceived lack of communication by NBFAA in addressing the chapter’s concerns, including what some say has been inadequate efforts in amending International Residential Code (IRC) R-213.

When the votes were tallied, the local chapter decided 33-18 in favor of continuing its national affiliation; one voter abstained.

“The NJBFAA is pleased this meeting turned out to be a win-win for both organizations. The members have spoken,” says Christopher Mack, president of NJBFAA. “The leadership for both groups will move forward in an effort to strengthen the relationship, keep the lines of communication open and continue to do what’s best for the dealers.”

NBFAA President Mike Miller and Executive Director Merlin Guilbeau traveled to the special meeting at the PNC Bank Arts Center Reception Center in Holmdel, N.J., to formally address the local chapter.

Miller and Guilbeau discussed the benefits of being associated with NBFAA, such as strong representation on Capitol Hill and upholding unified positions on issues impacting the industry.

“NBFAA is gratified that New Jersey will retain its chapter status in our national alliance. Our strength is our ability to influence issues across the country for the benefit of all members, and the recommitment of NJBFAA reinforces our ability to do this,” Miller says.
