ObjectVideo Launches IP Amnesty Program for Limited Time
RESTON, Va. — ObjectVideo (OV) announced today it has launched an IP amnesty program that will give qualified video analytic providers a 60-day window to enter into a global, portfolio-wide patent licensing agreement with OV.
The announcement comes weeks after Sony and Tyco Security Products signed patent license agreements with the firm. In July 2011, OV filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) against Sony, Samsung and Bosch, citing that the companies infringed upon OV’s patent technologies. OV has yet to reach an agreement with Samsung and Bosch.
Participation in the program requires a one-time fee and a pay-as-you-go patent licensing agreement. OV will waive past damages for amnesty program participants.
OV is working toward finalizing agreements with several companies after it provided a preview of the accord, OV CEO Raul Fernandez says.
“With over 45 domestic and international patents awarded and more than 40 pending, this is an opportunity for industry partners to license our patent portfolio without the risk and cost of litigation,” he says. “We have an established rate card and a proven process that facilitates a streamlined transaction.”
OV has set June 1 deadline to apply for the licensing agreement.
