Select Security Seals 3 Deals, Enters the Carolinas

Purchases in Kentucky, South Carolina and North Carolina extend Select Security’s reach in the southern region.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Select Security, based here, announces the addition of three new branch offices and its expansion into the Carolinas, following the completion of three acquisitions.

During the past few weeks, Select Security completed the purchase of Owensboro, Ky.-based Level 5 Systems; Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based Sea Dog Security; and Guardian Systems, located near Charlotte, N.C.

“The addition of Owensboro to our roster of branch offices marks our third in the state of Kentucky and adds a good customer base and talented team members in an area that is continuing to grow,” says Select Security President Steve Firestone. “Our entry into the Carolinas marks an entirely new phase in our acquisition plans, and is just the start of our plans there.”

As someone who has experienced the acquisition process and integration of security systems companies as both a buyer and seller, Roger Parks, former owner of Sea Dog Security, says he was impressed with the way Select Security handled the process.

“Thanks to their team of acquisition and integration specialists, I had a clear understanding of how my company, my employees and my customers would ultimately benefit from the transition,” Parks says.

Founded by Pat Egan in 2003, Select Security serves more than 25,000 customers across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The company offers integrated security and fire alarms, video surveillance and access control, along with home security, life safety and home automation systems. Monitoring services are provided through its four redundant monitoring centers, each of which is UL listed, FM approved and have earned Five Diamond certification from the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA).

“Just as there are many compelling reasons why North and South Carolina are attractive to us, there are also many reasons why dealers should consider us when they are considering the future of their company,” says Egan, who was inducted into the SSI Industry Hall of Fame in 2014. “Our disciplined approach to how acquisitions are handled make things easy for owners, and I enjoy sharing our story with anyone interested in learning more about our process.”
