Stanley Teams With Securitech to Assist Combat Veterans

NOBLESVILLE, Ind.

Stanley Security Solutions Inc. has joined a strategic distribution partnership with Securitech Group Inc., a Maspeth, N.Y.-based manufacturer of customized security and life-safety locks, to help returning war veterans receiving treatment in mental health facilities.

The partnership unites Securitech’s mental health focused products – anti-ligature locks, seclusion room multi-point locks, and safety emergency door alarms – with Stanley’s wide family of products.

“Stanley joined in this partnership for two main reasons. First, one of the key vertical markets we serve is healthcare, and Securitech had already developed a group of products specifically targeted at mental health institutions,” says Jaime Torres, director of product marketing for Stanley Security Solutions, tells SSI. “Second, Securitech products do not overlap our current offering, but complement it in a nice way. As a result, Stanley customers can select products they need from a wider portfolio.”

The products, which will be provided to mental health institutions through Stanley’s network of national representatives and contract hardware distribution channels, are expected to improve environments for returning soldiers in Veteran Affairs (VA) hospitals across the country, as well as patients in hospitals across North America.

“There are two problems facing the U.S. armed forces today,” says Torres. “On one hand, the number of combat veteran suicides has significantly risen in recent years as a result of post-traumatic stress disorders, which rise in number and intensity as the time spent in combat increases. On the other hand, the VA/military medical system is overloaded and needs to be expanded and upgraded.”

Stanley and Securitech are offering various locks and safety emergency door alarms to reduce the number of suicides that take place while combat veterans receive appropriate treatment, Torres says.
