Video Surveillance Contributes Major Evidence in Murder of Pastor’s Pregnant Wife

Amanda Blackburn, 28, was killed at her home last week. Surveillance cameras in the neighborhood captured footage of a man on the Blackburn’s front porch around the time of the murder.

INDIANAPOLIS — A murder of a pastor’s pregnant wife has rocked the surrounding community as it looks for answers.

On Friday, Indianapolis Metro Police said it has some answers, thanks in large part to evidence collected from video surveillance systems in the neighborhood of the crime. Clues inside the house and the possible recovery of a stolen car are also part of the evidence, according to a WTHR report.

Amanda Blackburn, 28, was killed at her home on Tuesday morning while her husband, Davey, was at the gym. Blackburn was 12 weeks pregnant at the time of her death and the married couple’s one-year-old child was home at the time of the attack. Davey Blackburn has been cleared as a suspect.

IMPD Chief Rick Hite had a personal message for the killer: “We’re serious about this. We’re coming to get you.”

Surveillance video captured a mysterious man on the Blackburns’ front porch around the time of the murder. Police believe he is the killer.

Kurt Baker, the Blackburn’s neighbor, hopes his home video surveillance system can be put to use by police.

“If my camera shows that, I’m ecstatic of that,” he said.
