Digital Watchdog Acquires SSI ‘Top 30’ Company Innovative Security Designs

TAMPA, Fla. – Digital Watchdog, a security and surveillance solutions provider, has entered an agreement to acquire Innovative Security Designs (ISD) for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 2012 by former IQinVision CTO Ian Johnston, the Irvine, Calif.-based ISD develops megapixel IP and edge-based surveillance solutions. Last year, the firm launched its netSeries cameras, the industry’s first IP camera to utilize the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.

The novel solution made big waves when it was introduced at the 2013 ISC West conference, earning the SIA New Product Showcase‘s “Best New Product” and “Best in Video Surveillance Camera HD (Megapixel)” accolades. ISD’s netSeries system was also chosen as one of SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION‘s “Top 30 Products of 2013.”

“ISD’s ability to captivate the attention of the industry with unique and differentiated solutions has been remarkable,” says Digital Watchdog CEO HK Lee. “In order to preserve what makes ISD special, ISD will remain an independent company to Digital Watchdog, and will continue to work closely with their OEM customers worldwide. Our combined strengths make this a very powerful relationship.”

In business since 1987, Digital Watchdog manufactures IP and analog cameras, DVRs, NVRs and video surveillance software. The firm operates two locations – one in Tampa, Fla., and the other in Cerritos, Calif.

“Digital Watchdog is the perfect complement for ISD,” Johnston says. “We are thrilled to join their exceptional team to pursue our common vision of next generation solutions for the Security Industry. It is refreshing to be able to join forces with a talented group of folks who are wholly committed to meeting customer’s expectations.”

The deal is expected to close in the next few weeks.
