Keeping Trouble Out of Shoppers’ Paradise

Klapak points to meticulous planning, error-free execution and well articulated communication as the key factors in making the MOA project — as well as others VTI conducts — such a success.

“We coordinated with the facility for the power and cooling of the head-end rooms, IT for the network requirements and programming, and security to assist in the installation and deployment of the system,” he says. “It went so smoothly because we had our engineers work a plan prior to setting foot on the property and our project managers made sure everyone was on the same page prior to starting.”

While Buegler is delighted with the features and performance of MOA’s new system, she has already begun putting together her wish list for enhanced capabilities.

“I would like to see the ability to simultaneously control all pan, tilt, zoom, focus and iris control functions through the software/mouse interface,” she says. “Currently, only CCTV joysticks provide this functionality; when using the mouse only one feature can be manipulated at a time, and the software does not support advanced mouse features like additional buttons, scroll wheels, etc.”

Her other wants include chronological advance/reverse of cameras using a single button/control as opposed to inputting camera numbers, and real-time terminal recording of what an operator is viewing rather than needing to string together a series of cameras in the reviewing/exporting process.

For now, the end user is enjoying the extensive benefits the system provides and the advantages it gives security personnel to more effectively perform their duties. And it appears MOA will consider VTI Security its preferred integrator for some time to come.

“VTI is always at the top of our list when considering vendors,” says Buegler. “Employees at VTI have consistently been helpful and knowledgeable. Many times they have gone out of their way to meet the extensive demands of a department as critical as MOA Security Department.”
