In a letter presented to the Electronic Security Association (ESA), Comcast has made aware the limitations of its new HomePoint telephone service, which combines a wireless router and the company’s VoIP service.
According to Comcast, the VoIP service does not integrate with home alarm systems because of the device’s inability to support the automatic dialing function. The company has provided a sticker notice to customers with each device highlighting its home security system limitations.
Technicians who encounter the HomePoint device with the attached sticker during an installation are advised by Comcast to contact Mike Clancy at michael_clancy@cable.comcast.com or at (215) 286-4113. The company will deploy a newer, compatible device in place of HomePoint.
