Mar 10, 2010, WASHINGTON -- Custom Alarm of Rochester, Minn., has been named a Blue Ribbon Business Award winner by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in recognition for being one of the top 75 small businesses in the United States. The award is designed to recognize businesses that demonstrate excellent business practices in several areas, including business strategy, employee development, community involvement and customer service.
This year’s Small Business of the Year winners were selected from a record number of nationwide applicants. “Our award winners are proof that the American entrepreneurial spirit is as strong as ever,” says Thomas J. Donohue, U.S. Chamber president and CEO. “We’re relying on small businesses to lead us out of this recession, create new jobs, and get our economy moving again, and these companies are leading the way.”
Seven of the businesses will be named finalists for the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam’s Club, on Monday, March 15. All Blue Ribbon Award winners will be honored at America's Small Business Summit on May 18 in Washington, D.C.
