ADS Security Acquires DetectAlert in Florida

The purchase of DetectAlert in Melbourne, Fla., marks the second acquisition in the Sunshine State for ADS.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – ADS Security, a regional electronic security and automation company based here, has acquired the 1,300 customer accounts of Melbourne, Fla.-based DetectAlert. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ADS launched operations in Melbourne in 2007 with the acquisition of Advanced Detection Systems.

“Growing our southernmost presence is an important part of our expansion plan and we are proud to be partnering with a Florida security company like DetectAlert,” says John Cerasuolo, ADS president and CEO. “DetectAlert has an outstanding local presence and company values that will merge seamlessly with ADS.”

This marks the third acquisition for ADS this year, following the acquisition of about 3,000 accounts in Sanford, N.C., and 1,300 accounts in Northport, Ala. In 2015, ADS acquired security companies in Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia totaling approximately 6,500 accounts.

DetectAlert customers will have access to the ADS advanced suite of residential and commercial security and automation services, including mobile management, smart home technologies, video surveillance and access control solutions; a proprietary UL-listed, CSAA Five Diamond monitoring center; and My ADS customer portal with online account management.

The purchased accounts will be serviced out of the ADS Melbourne office.

“When my wife and I decided it was time to retire, it was important to us to find a buyer that had the same focus on providing top quality protection and prompt, personal service, at affordable prices,” says DetectAlert owner John Black. “We believe ADS Security is the best choice to continue delivering an outstanding experience to our customers into the future.”

DetectAlert was represented in the transaction by Chuck Bellissimo of Castle Ventures.
