Bright House Networks Selects iControl Platform for Home Security & Control

Sixth largest cable operator in the U.S. will offer solution powered by the iControl Converge interactive touchscreen and security panel.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Keeping track of your competition is one of the best things you can do to make informed decisions for your own business. To that end, security dealers keeping tabs on what the cable companies are offering as their base platform take note: Bright House Networks has selected a software platform by iControl Networks to power its home security and controls solution.

The iControl Converge solution is anchored by an all-in-one touchscreen and security panel to provide centrally monitored and self-managed security, as well as energy, light and home appliance management. Users can also manage the system via Web-enabled devices.

An alert feature enables users to customize their systems to send instant text or E-mail notifications when children have returned home after school, or if there is suspicious activity around the home. Users can receive live or recorded video of their homes, plus check the news and weather, among other feature sets.

The panel supports a host of WiFi- and ZigBee-enabled life-safety and lifestyle devices. iControl Converge can also reuse wired or wireless sensors, keypads and peripherals from previously-installed security systems, enabling security system “takeovers,” according to the company.

“We’re excited to partner with Bright House Networks to bring advanced home control, security and connectivity to their customer base,” says Jim Johnson, executive vice president and general manager at iControl. “Bright House Networks customers will quickly appreciate how simple it is to manage their homes and gain the reassurance that comes with a home management service like this.”

Bright House Networks is the sixth largest owner and operator of cable systems in the U.S. and the second largest in Florida. Other service areas include Alabama, Indiana, Michigan and California.
