Webcast: Terminating Larger Size Cables With Platinum Tools Connectors

The Webinar discusses best practices for terminating Cat-6a cable to Cat-6a shielded connectors, among other termination practices and principles.

Platinum Tools and Honeywell recently collaborated to present a Webinar that focused on instructing installing security contractors how to terminate larger Ethernet cable types, including Cat-6a.

Cat-6a doubles data transmission bandwidth, from 250 to 500 MHz; decreases the chance of crosstalk interference; and provides superior reliability and transmission speeds through greater lengths of cable. Unlike most Cat-6, Cat-6a cables are also often shielded, making them ideal for industrial use where additional interference may be a concern.

Terminating these larger-size cables to standard connectors, which are optimally designed for smaller cables, can be a challenge. New connectors and solutions have been developed to solve the termination and workmanship issues that arise when installers terminate larger-size cables.

Originally held on Jan. 13, the Webcast seminar is still available online for viewing. It covers the following termination practices and principles:

• Terminating Cat-6a cable to Cat-6a shielded connectors
• Terminating Cat-5e and Cat-6 cable to Cat-6 shielded connectors

The Webcast is approved for one BICSI ITS continuing education credit (CEC), according to Platinum Tools. Go here to register and view the Webinar.
